The heart of Victoria is preparing for a festive holiday season filled with lights, music, shopping and family-friendly fun. From colorful parades to live shows and craft markets, there’s plenty for locals and visitors to enjoy.
Parade & Tree Lighting
The city’s holiday season kicks off with the annual Lighted Christmas Parade at the historic DeLeon Plaza (101 N Main Street). Scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the event promises glittering floats, holiday music and a community atmosphere.
In addition, there’s a tree-lighting at DeLeon Plaza scheduled for Friday, December 6 at 5:30 p.m. as part of the Merry on Main festivities.
Merry on Main, Holiday Market & Family Fun
On Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., DeLeon Plaza will host the Merry on Main event. A holiday market featuring local artisans, live entertainment (including musicians, choirs and dance groups), and family-friendly activities (including a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus) will anchor the downtown celebration. Food and drinks from local vendors and restaurants will add to the festive mood.
Santa’s Arrival at the Mall
Another highlight: the annual arrival of Santa at the Victoria Mall. This year’s edition features special holiday performances and a festive parade.
Live Show: The Grand Ol’ Christmas
For those seeking an evening of live entertainment, don’t miss the Grand Ol’ Christmas Show starring Will Holiday at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts (214 N. Main St.). The show is set for Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. and brings holiday classics and sketch comedy to the stage.
What to Know Before You Go
- Most of the key events (parade, market, Santa arrival) are free and open to the public, great for families and groups.
- Downtown Victoria and DeLeon Plaza are the hub: parking may fill up early, so plan ahead.
- Dress for the weather (even in Texas, evenings can feel cool in December) and arrive early for best vantage points, particularly for the parade.
- These events shine a spotlight on local vendors and performers helping to support the community while celebrating.
Outlook
This season’s lineup blends time-honored traditions (the parade, tree-lighting, Santa’s arrival) with fresh offerings (holiday markets, evening shows), offering something for every age. It’s a warm and inviting way to gather, shop, listen, and celebrate the holidays in Victoria.
