Theatre Victoria Kicked Off Landmark 50th Anniversary Season with The Mousetrap
Theatre Victoria officially pulled back the curtain on its golden milestone, launching its 50th Anniversary Season with Agatha Christie’s iconic The Mousetrap.
As the longest-running play in the world, the production brought its signature suspense to the Welder Center stage. Set in the isolated Monkswell Manor during a blinding snowstorm, a group of strangers found themselves trapped together. When a local murder investigation revealed a killer hiding among them, paranoia spread, keeping audiences guessing until the final, tightly guarded twist.
Guiding the suspenseful production was Director Chip Reynolds, alongside Assistant Director Kathryn Reynolds, whose keen eye for detail helped build the tense world of Monkswell Manor. Executive Director Michael Teer emphasized the significance of choosing such a classic title for the anniversary kickoff, sharing that opening with The Mousetrap honored the timeless tradition of live theatre while serving as a tribute to the generations of artists and audiences who built Theatre Victoria into a vibrant community home.
The production also featured a special Pay-What-You-Can performance, sponsored by the H-E-B Tournament of Champions and HEB Helping Here, removing financial barriers to welcome new patrons into the audience.
